Australian Champion wins Classic Rally of Otago |

Four-time Australian Rally Champion, Neal Bates, has become the first driver from across the Tasman to win the Stadium Cars / Nichibo International Classic Rally of Otago after a dominant performance in the Dunedin-based event.
Together with co-driver Coral Taylor, Bates led from the very first stage in his Toyota Celica RA40, and finished the two-day, 16 stage event with a winning margin of 56.9 seconds.

Paddon takes championship lead after winning Otago Rally |

Winning the weekend’s opening round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship seemed easy for past two-time champion Hayden Paddon from Geraldine. He and Blenheim based co-driver John Kennard finished 4mins 25sec ahead of Masterton’s Richard and Sara Mason after the 807.28km long Drivesouth Rally of Otago held over the Saturday and Sunday. Third overall, 2mins 56sec behind the Subaru of the Masons was four-wheel-drive rookie Ben Hunt and Tony Rawstorn of Nelson.

Paddon dominates while attrition decimates rally championship field |

Geraldine’s Hayden Paddon has a near three minute lead on his rivals after today’s opening eight special stages in the two day Drivesouth Rally of Otago, the opening round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.
Second, after successive punctures up-ended their early rally lead,
Masterton’s Richard and Sara Mason are 35 seconds ahead of a spirited
and credible drive by Nelson’s Ben Hunt – in his first event behind the
wheel of a Subaru.
